R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The orderly functioning of the Texas House of
1-2 Representatives during the Regular Session of the 73rd Legislature
1-3 has been greatly facilitated by the diligent efforts of the house
1-4 sergeant at arms, Rod Welsh, the assistant sergeant at arms, Ann
1-5 Harlow, and the office's staff of sergeant messengers; and
1-6 WHEREAS, As sergeant at arms, Mr. Welsh is responsible for
1-7 maintaining order in the house chamber and meeting rooms, securing
1-8 the attendance of members, and assisting all house officers in
1-9 carrying out their administrative duties through the use of
1-10 sergeant messengers and other staff; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Ms. Harlow oversees the daily activities of the
1-12 sergeant messengers, who perform a wide range of important duties
1-13 such as assisting with the taping of committee meetings, picking up
1-14 and delivering mail, photocopying, and taking telephone messages,
1-15 and their actions contribute to the efficiency of the legislative
1-16 process in innumerable ways; and
1-17 WHEREAS, The exceptionally competent sergeant messenger staff
1-18 includes the following individuals: Mike Alford, Yvonne Barton,
1-19 Britton Bass, Kristen Bergen, Kevin Berger, Eric Berkley, Elizabeth
1-20 Blackman, Sonya Bolden, Preston Brown, Scott Browne, Char Burse,

2-13 WHEREAS, The high degree of professionalism and conscientious
2-14 efforts of each individual in the house sergeant at arms office
2-15 have contributed immeasurably to a productive legislative session
2-16 and they are truly deserving of special praise and recognition;
2-17 now, therefore, be it
2-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-19 Legislature hereby extend to house Sergeant at Arms Rod Welsh,
2-20 Assistant Sergeant at Arms Ann Harlow, and the sergeant messengers
2-21 its sincere gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding services
2-22 they have rendered during this legislative session; and, be it
2-23 further
2-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-25 prepared for the house sergeant at arms office as an expression of
2-26 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
