H.R. No. 896 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Communities throughout the State of Texas enjoy, 1-2 participate, and celebrate in the rich cultural and ethnic heritage 1-3 of this state through song and dance; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Albert, Rick, Jerry, and Ben Benavides, Jr., all 1-5 brothers, are actively spreading the awareness and appreciation of 1-6 the Mexican American culture in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through 1-7 the broadcast of Tejano music on their radio station, KTNO "Tejano" 1-8 1540 AM; and 1-9 WHEREAS, KTNO is the first full-time Tejano radio station in 1-10 the North Texas area, housing its studios in the City of Arlington, 1-11 and has broadcast its music since February 1, 1993, at 50,000 1-12 watts, serving a large and growing Hispanic community of 650,000; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, The Benavides brothers will hold KTNO's grand 1-15 opening dance on this the 22nd day of May, 1993, as a gesture of 1-16 the station's accessibility to the North Texas community and to 1-17 show its commitment to the continued appreciation of Tejano music 1-18 and culture; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby commend the Benavides brothers and KTNO Radio on 1-21 their efforts and strong commitment to the Dallas-Fort Worth area's 1-22 culturally diverse communities; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared as an expression of high esteem by the Texas House of 2-2 Representatives. 2-3 Representatives. 2-4 Alonzo 2-5 H.R.
