                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Organized at Abilene Christian University in 1943 to
    1-2  promote Christian service and brotherhood, Frater Sodalis is
    1-3  celebrating its 50th anniversary; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, The Men of Frater Sodalis represent one of the
    1-5  largest social fraternities on the Abilene Christian University
    1-6  campus and have throughout the years represented themselves with
    1-7  distinction in all areas of collegiate activity, including
    1-8  intramural sports, service activities in the community, leadership
    1-9  on the university campus, and mission campaigns throughout the
   1-10  nation; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Over the last 50 years, more than 900 men have
   1-12  pledged this fine organization and have endured the ordeal of
   1-13  pledging in order to join with its members as a part of this
   1-14  brotherhood; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Men of Frater Sodalis have distinguished
   1-16  themselves on the Abilene Christian University campus, in the
   1-17  Abilene community, and throughout Texas and the United States by
   1-18  serving in projects that better our society; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The Men of Frater Sodalis have provided spiritual
   1-20  leadership through their promotion of Christian service, through
   1-21  their participation in religious activities, and by promoting the
   1-22  principles of Abilene Christian University; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The Men of Frater Sodalis have championed themselves
    2-1  on the athletic fields of Abilene Christian University in a variety
    2-2  of sports and have consistently led the competition; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, With the assistance of their sponsor, Dr. G. L.
    2-4  Belcher, the organization was founded by Robert Ishiguro, Johnny
    2-5  Anders, Don Allen, Walter Vincent, Dave Hearn, Jr., M. P. Herring,
    2-6  Jr., Bill Decker, Michio Nagai, Neal McLeskey, Harry Pickup, Jr.,
    2-7  Robert Page, William "Shorty" Lawson, Hal Rives, and Arnold Shaver;
    2-8  and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Members of Frater Sodalis have gone on to
   2-10  distinguish themselves in business, law, education, medicine,
   2-11  politics, the ministry, and public service; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, 1993 marks a half century of leadership and service
   2-13  for Frater Sodalis; now, therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives extend
   2-15  congratulations to the Men of Frater Sodalis on their 50th
   2-16  anniversary and express appreciation to them for the 50 years of
   2-17  Christian service that they have provided to their community and
   2-18  state; and, be it further
   2-19        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-20  prepared for the officers of the organization as an expression of
   2-21  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
