   1-20        Amend S.B. No. 21, Section 1, Section 130.904(a), line 30, by
   1-21  inserting between the words "department" and "an" the  word "in" in
   1-22  lieu of the word "is".
   1-23                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-24                                AN ACT
   1-25  relating to the sheriff's petty cash fund.
   1-26        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-27        SECTION 1.  Subsection (a), Section 130.904, Local Government
   1-28  Code, is amended to read as follows:
   1-29        (a)  The commissioners court of a county may establish a
   1-30  petty cash fund for the sheriff's department is an amount set by
   1-31  the commissioners court <not to exceed $5,000>.  The court shall
   1-32  appropriate the amount from the general fund of the county.
   1-33        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-34  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-35  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-36  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-37  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-38  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-39  passage, and it is so enacted.
