1-21 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-22 AN ACT
1-23 relating to district offices of the Texas Department of
1-24 Transportation.
1-25 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-26 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Article 6663h, Revised Statutes,
1-27 is amended to read as follows:
1-28 (a) For the purposes of performing the department's duties,
1-29 the commission shall divide the state into not more than 25 <18>
1-30 districts. A district may not have more than one district office.
1-31 The department may have as many offices for maintenance and
1-32 construction personnel in a district as the commission determines
1-33 necessary.
1-34 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-35 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-36 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-37 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-38 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-39 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-40 passage, and it is so enacted.
