1-22 Amend S. B. No. 121, Section 1, Subsection (a), by striking
1-23 "170" and inserting "280".
1-24 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-25 AN ACT
1-26 relating to specifications of vehicles purchased or leased by the
1-27 state.
1-28 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-29 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 3.29, State Purchasing
1-30 and General Services Act (Article 601b, Vernon's Texas Civil
1-31 Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
1-32 (a) A state agency may not purchase or lease a vehicle
1-33 designed or used primarily for the transportation of persons,
1-34 including a station wagon, that has a wheel base longer than 116
1-35 <113> inches or that has more than 170 <160> SAE net horsepower.
1-36 This provision does not apply to the purchase or lease of a vehicle
1-37 to be used primarily for criminal law enforcement or a bus,
1-38 motorcycle, pickup, van, truck, three-wheel vehicle, tractor, or
1-39 ambulance.
1-40 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-41 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-42 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-43 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-44 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-45 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-46 passage, and it is so enacted.
