                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to the enforcement of certain agreements between the
    1-2  parties to a marriage.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Section 3, House Bill No. 1274, Acts of the 73rd
    1-5  Legislature, Regular Session, 1993, is amended to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993, and applies
    1-7  only to an action pending on or brought <agreement executed on or>
    1-8  after that date.  <An agreement executed before that date is
    1-9  governed by the law in effect at the time the agreement was
   1-10  executed, and the former law is continued in effect for that
   1-11  purpose.>
   1-12        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-13        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-14  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-15  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-16  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-17  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
