Subchapter A, Chapter 5, Alcoholic Beverage Code, 1-27 is amended by adding Section 5.142 to read as follows: 1-28 Sec. 5.142. SPECIAL INSPECTORS OR REPRESENTATIVES. (a) The 1-29 commission or administrator may appoint as a special inspector or 1-30 representative an honorably retired commissioned inspector or 1-31 representative. 1-32 (b) A special inspector or representative is subject to the 1-33 orders of the commission and is subject to the orders of the 1-34 governor for special duty to the same extent as other law 1-35 enforcement officers. 1-36 (c) Before issuance of a commission to a special inspector 1-37 or representative, the person shall enter into a good and 1-38 sufficient bond executed by a surety company authorized to do 1-39 business in the state in the amount of $2,500, approved by the 1-40 commission, and indemnifying all persons against damages resulting 1-41 from an unlawful act of the person as a special inspector or 1-42 representative. 1-43 (d) A special inspector or representative is not entitled to 1-44 compensation from the state for service as a special inspector or 1-45 representative. 1-46 (e) A special inspector or representative commission expires 1-47 January 1 of the first odd-numbered year after appointment. The 1-48 commission may revoke a special inspector or representative 1-49 commission at any time for cause. 1-50 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-51 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-52 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-53 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-54 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-55 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-56 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-57 * * * * * 1-58 Austin, 1-59 Texas 1-60 March 3, 1993 1-61 Hon.
