                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to the prosecution of the offense of sexual assault.
    1-2        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-3        SECTION 1. Subsection (g), Section 22.011, Penal Code, is
    1-4  repealed.
    1-5        SECTION 2. (a) The change in law made by this Act applies
    1-6  only to the prosecution of an offense committed on or after the
    1-7  effective date of this Act. For purposes of this section, an
    1-8  offense is committed before the effective date of this Act if any
    1-9  element of the offense occurs before the effective date.
   1-10        (b) An offense committed before the effective date of this
   1-11  Act is covered by the law in effect when the offense was committed,
   1-12  and the former law is continued in effect for this purpose.
   1-13        SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-14        SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the crowded
   1-15  condition of the calendars in both houses create an emergency and
   1-16  an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule
   1-17  requiring bills to be read on three several days in each house be
   1-18  suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
