   1-17                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-18                                AN ACT
   1-19  relating to the age at which a child is allowed to accompany a
   1-20  parent to a voting station.
   1-21        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-22        SECTION 1.  Subsection (b), Section 64.002, Election Code, is
   1-23  amended to read as follows:
   1-24        (b)  A child under 18 <10> years of age may accompany his
   1-25  parent to a voting station.
   1-26        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-27        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-28  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-29  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-30  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-31  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
