1-21 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-22 AN ACT
1-23 relating to the issuance of special license plates for certain
1-24 vehicles to be operated by or for the transportation of disabled
1-25 persons.
1-26 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-27 SECTION 1. Section 4, Chapter 338, Acts of the 64th
1-28 Legislature, 1975 (Article 6675a-5e.1, Vernon's Texas Civil
1-29 Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
1-30 Sec. 4. Special license plates shall be issued for
1-31 motorcycles, <with side cars that have been specifically modified
1-32 by the manufacturer to be operated by disabled persons and>
1-33 passenger vehicles, and light commercial vehicles having a
1-34 manufacturer's rated carrying capacity of one ton or less operated
1-35 by or for the transportation of permanently disabled persons for
1-36 noncommercial use.
1-37 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-38 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-39 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-40 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-41 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-42 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-43 passage, and it is so enacted.
