   1-19                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-20                                AN ACT
   1-21  relating to symbols imprinted on or molded into certain plastic
   1-22  containers.
   1-23        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-24        SECTION 1.  Section 369.002, Health and Safety Code, is
   1-25  amended by amending Subsection (e) and adding Subsection (f) to
   1-26  read as follows:
   1-27        (e)  The department may approve the use of another nationally
   1-28  or internationally recognized label coding system for
   1-29  special-purpose plastic bottles or rigid plastic containers in
   1-30  place of the symbols described by Subsections (c) and (d).
   1-31        (f)  The department shall:
   1-32              (1)  maintain a list of the symbols; and
   1-33              (2)  provide a copy of that list to any person on
   1-34  request.
   1-35        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-36  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-37  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-38  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-39  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-40  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-41  passage, and it is so enacted.
