                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to Section 36.02 of the Penal Code.
    1-2        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-3        SECTION 1.  Section 36.02 (d) of the Texas Penal Code is
    1-4  amended to read as follows:
    1-5        (d)  It is an exception to the application of Subdivisions
    1-6  (1), (2), <and> (3) and (4) of Subsection (a) of this section that
    1-7  the benefit is a political contribution accepted as defined by
    1-8  Title 15, Election Code or a noncash, nonnegotiable benefit of a
    1-9  value of less than $50 required to be reported under Chapter 305 of
   1-10  the Government Code.
   1-11        SECTION 2.  This act is effective on September 1, 1993.
   1-12        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-13  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-14  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-15  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-16  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-17  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-18  passage, and it is so enacted.
