  2-1                          COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
  2-2           Amend S.B. 781 as follows:
  2-3           (1)  On page 1, line 11 strike all of Subsection (b), and
  2-4     insert the following:
  2-5           (b)  Except as provided herein, a deputy sheriff may not be
  2-6     suspended, discharged, or subjected to any other form of employment
  2-7     discrimination because the deputy sheriff refuses to take a
  2-8     polygraph examination.  Discipline may be given to a deputy sheriff
  2-9     who refuses to take a polygraph examination if such deputy sheriff
 2-10     is the subject of a complaint and the complainant against such
 2-11     deputy sheriff has, in the course of the department's investigation
 2-12     of the complaint, previously taken and successfully passed a
 2-13     polygraph examination.
