1-19 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-20 AN ACT
1-21 relating to the establishment and financing of a school-community
1-22 guidance center.
1-23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-24 SECTION 1. Section 21.603, Education Code, is amended to
1-25 read as follows:
1-26 Sec. 21.603. Cooperation of Governmental Agencies. (a)
1-27 Each governmental agency concerned with children in the school
1-28 district shall cooperate with the school-community guidance centers
1-29 on the request of the superintendent of schools and shall designate
1-30 liaison persons to work with the centers in identifying and
1-31 correcting problems affecting school-age children in the district.
1-32 (b) A county, juvenile board, or other governmental agency
1-33 concerned with children in a school district may establish or
1-34 finance a school-community guidance center jointly with the school
1-35 district according to terms approved by the governing body of each
1-36 entity participating in the joint establishment or financing of the
1-37 center.
1-38 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-39 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-40 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-41 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-42 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-43 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-44 passage, and it is so enacted.
