   1-15                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-16                                AN ACT
   1-17  relating to requiring juvenile probation officers to monitor the
   1-18  school attendance of certain children.
   1-19        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-20        SECTION 1.  Chapter 54, Family Code, is amended by adding
   1-21  Section 54.043 to read as follows:
   1-22        Sec. 54.043.  MONITORING SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.  If the court
   1-23  places a child on probation under Section 54.04(d) of this code and
   1-24  requires as a condition of probation that the child attend school,
   1-25  the probation officer charged with supervising the child shall
   1-26  monitor the child's school attendance and report to the court if
   1-27  the child is voluntarily absent from school.
   1-28        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-29  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-30  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-31  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-32  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-33  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-34  passage, and it is so enacted.
