The Plumbing License Law (Article 6243-101, 1-25 Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) is amended by adding Section 5B to 1-26 read as follows: 1-27 Sec. 5B. ADOPTION OF PLUMBING CODES. (a) To protect the 1-28 health and safety of the citizens of this state, the Board shall 1-29 adopt the Southern Standard Plumbing Code, the Uniform Plumbing 1-30 Code, and the National Standard Plumbing Code. 1-31 (b) In adopting standards for the proper design, 1-32 installation, and maintenance of a plumbing system, a municipality 1-33 or an owner of a public water system may not adopt standards that 1-34 conflict with rules or laws of this state. 1-35 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-36 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-37 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-38 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-39 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-40 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-41 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-42 * * * * * 1-43 Austin, 1-44 Texas 1-45 April 1, 1993 1-46 Hon.
