No. 823 73R6500 SOS-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to authorizing the issuance of revenue bonds for the 1-3 University of North Texas. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 55, Education Code, is 1-6 amended by adding Section 55.1713 to read as follows: 1-7 Sec. 55.1713. UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS. (a) The board of 1-8 regents of the University of North Texas may acquire, construct, 1-9 improve, equip, and operate buildings, facilities, and equipment at 1-10 the University of North Texas. 1-11 (b) The board may finance those items listed under 1-12 Subsection (a) of this section through the issuance of bonds in 1-13 accordance with this subchapter. The board may pledge irrevocably 1-14 to the payment of those bonds all or any part of the aggregate 1-15 amount of student tuition charges required or authorized by law to 1-16 be imposed on students enrolled at the University of North Texas. 1-17 The amount of a pledge made under this subsection may not be 1-18 reduced or abrogated while the bonds for which the pledge is made, 1-19 or bonds issued to refund those bonds, are outstanding. 1-20 (c) Bonds issued under this section may not be issued in an 1-21 aggregate principal amount exceeding $25 million. 1-22 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-23 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-24 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 2-1 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 2-2 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 2-3 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 2-4 passage, and it is so enacted.
