1-24 AN ACT
1-25 relating to an exception to the open meetings law for certain
1-26 deliberations of the board of directors of a municipal hospital or

1-28 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-29 SECTION 1. Section 2, Chapter 271, Acts of the 60th
1-30 Legislature, Regular Session, 1967 (Article 6252-17, Vernon's Texas
1-31 Civil Statutes), is amended by adding Subsection (s) to read as
1-32 follows:
1-33 (s) This Act does not require the board of directors of a
1-34 municipal hospital or the board of directors of a municipal
1-35 hospital authority to conduct an open meeting to deliberate:
1-36 (1) business or financial planning information if
1-37 disclosure of the information would give advantage to competitors
1-38 of the hospital; or
1-39 (2) information relating to a proposed new service or
1-40 product line of the hospital before the hospital publicly announces
1-41 the service or product line.
1-42 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-43 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-44 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-45 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-46 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-47 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
