No. 851 By: Lucio 1-23 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-24 AN ACT 1-25 relating to an exception to the open meetings law for certain 1-26 deliberations of the board of directors of a municipal hospital or 1-27 a municipal hospital authority. 1-28 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-29 SECTION 1. Section 2, Chapter 271, Acts of the 60th 1-30 Legislature, Regular Session, 1967 (Article 6252-17, Vernon's Texas 1-31 Civil Statutes), is amended by adding Subsection (s) to read as 1-32 follows: 1-33 (s) This Act does not require the board of directors of a 1-34 municipal hospital or the board of directors of a municipal 1-35 hospital authority to conduct an open meeting to deliberate: 1-36 (1) business or financial planning information if 1-37 disclosure of the information would give advantage to competitors 1-38 of the hospital; or 1-39 (2) information relating to a proposed new service or 1-40 product line of the hospital before the hospital publicly announces 1-41 the service or product line. 1-42 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993. 1-43 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-44 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-45 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-46 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-47 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-48 * * * * * 1-49 Austin, 1-50 Texas 1-51 April 7, 1993 1-52 Hon.
