                                        AN ACT
1-1 relating to filing with State Treasurer of claims for delivered
    1-2 property.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 74.502, Property Code, is amended by
1-5 amending Section (d) to read as follows:
1-6 (d) If the amount paid under Subsection (b) is more than
1-7 $100.00, the State Treasurer <and the attorney general> shall
1-8 examine the claim and any supporting affidavit or evidence of the
1-9 claim. Before the State Treasurer may reimburse a depository for a
1-10 claim under this subsection, the claim must be approved and signed
1-11 by the State Treasurer <and the attorney general>.
1-12 SECTION 2. Section 74.503, Property Code, is amended to read
   1-13 as follows:
1-14 The State Treasurer <and the attorney general> or his
1-15 authorized agents shall consider the validity of each claim filed
   1-16 under this subchapter.
1-17 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-18 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
