1-17 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-18 AN ACT
1-19 relating to the terms served by members of the executive committee
1-20 of the Office for the Prevention of Developmental Disabilities.
1-21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-22 SECTION 1. Subsection (c), Section 112.045, Human Resources
1-23 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-24 (c) The members serve for staggered six-year terms, with the
1-25 terms of three members expiring <two-year terms that expire on>
1-26 February 1 of each odd-numbered year. Executive committee members
1-27 receive no compensation but are entitled to reimbursement of actual
1-28 and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
1-29 SECTION 2. (a) All terms of the current members of the
1-30 executive committee of the Office for the Prevention of
1-31 Developmental Disabilities expire on the effective date of this
1-32 Act. On that date, or as soon as possible after that date, the
1-33 governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of the house of
1-34 representatives shall each appoint one member for a term expiring
1-35 February 1, 1995, one member for a term expiring February 1, 1997,
1-36 and one member for a term expiring February 1, 1999.
1-37 (b) A member of the executive committee serving immediately
1-38 before the effective date of this Act is eligible for reappointment
1-39 to the executive committee.
1-40 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-41 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
1-42 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-43 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-44 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-45 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
