                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
1-1 relating to personal business days for school district employees.
1-2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-3 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 13.904, Education Code,
1-4 is amended to read as follows:
1-5 (a) A state minimum sick leave program consisting of five
1-6 days per year sick leave with no limit on accumulation and
1-7 transferable among districts shall be provided for every person
1-8 regularly employed in the public free schools of Texas. Local
1-9 school districts may provide additional sick leave beyond this
1-10 minimum. Each employee may use up to two sick days per school year
1-11 for personal business if the school district does not provide two
1-12 or more days of personal leave per school year <one sick day per
   1-13 semester as a personal business day>.
1-14 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-15 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-16 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-17 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-18 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
