1-20 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-21 AN ACT
1-22 relating to personal business days for school district employees.
1-23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-24 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 13.904, Education Code,
1-25 is amended to read as follows:
1-26 (a) A state minimum sick leave program consisting of five
1-27 days per year sick leave with no limit on accumulation and
1-28 transferable among districts shall be provided for every person
1-29 regularly employed in the public free schools of Texas. Local
1-30 school districts may provide additional sick leave beyond this
1-31 minimum. Each employee may use up to two sick days per school year
1-32 for personal business if the school district does not provide two
1-33 or more days of personal leave per school year <one sick day per
1-34 semester as a personal business day>.
1-35 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-36 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-37 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-38 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-39 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
