No. 1101 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1-1 relating to application and eligibility for Aid to Families with 1-2 Dependent Children program benefits and services. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 31, Human Resources Code, 1-5 is amended by adding Section 31.0315 to read as follows: 1-6 Sec. 31.0315. DETERMINATION OF PARENTAGE. (a) A parent 1-7 applying for assistance on behalf of a child shall identify the 1-8 parent's spouse or, if unmarried, shall provide the name and last 1-9 known address of the mother or alleged father of the child, as 1-10 applicable. 1-11 (b) If the applying parent is under 18 years of age and 1-12 resides with relatives, the applicant's relatives shall cooperate 1-13 in identifying the other parent. 1-14 (c) A person who is not a parent and who is applying for 1-15 assistance on behalf of a child shall provide the name and last 1-16 known address of the mother and alleged father of the child. 1-17 (d) The department shall forward to the attorney general's 1-18 office information received under this section. 1-19 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993. 1-20 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 2-1 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
