   1-17                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-18                                AN ACT
   1-19  relating to payments for evaluators based on the number of
   1-20  candidates examined for interpreter certification.
   1-21        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-22        SECTION 1.  Section 81.007, Human Resources Code, is amended
   1-23  by adding Subsection (k) to read as follows:
   1-24        (k)  The commission shall compensate an evaluator, based on
   1-25  the following schedule:
   1-26              (1)  $25 for each candidate evaluated for Level I
   1-27  certification;
   1-28              (2)  $35 for each candidate evaluated for Level III
   1-29  certification;
   1-30              (3)  $40 for each candidate evaluated for Level IV
   1-31  certification; and
   1-32              (4)  $45 for each candidate evaluated for Level V
   1-33  certification.
   1-34        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-35        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-36  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-37  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-38  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-39  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
