1-17 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-18 AN ACT
1-19 relating to examinations for interpreter certification conducted by
1-20 the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters.
1-21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-22 SECTION 1. Subsection (i), Section 81.007, Human Resources
1-23 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-24 (i) <The board shall conduct the interpreter examinations in
1-25 Austin at the commission's office or in other space owned or leased
1-26 by the state that can be obtained free of charge.> The board shall
1-27 determine the frequency with which it will conduct the interpreter
1-28 examinations. The board shall conduct the interpreter
1-29 examinations:
1-30 (1) in Austin at the commission's office or in other
1-31 space owned or leased by the state that can be obtained free of
1-32 charge; or
1-33 (2) in other cities in this state in space that can be
1-34 obtained free of charge.
1-35 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-36 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-37 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-38 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-39 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-40 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
