                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to the contracting for, and establishment and continuance
    1-2  of, certain retirement programs for the benefit of employees of
    1-3  municipal hospital authorities.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 262, Health and Safety
    1-6  Code, is amended by adding Section 262.035 to read as follows:
    1-7        Sec. 262.035.  RETIREMENT BENEFITS.  If any authority is
    1-8  created by the governing body of a municipality which has
    1-9  established a municipal retirement system pursuant to Chapter 451,
   1-10  Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991 (Article 6243n,
   1-11  Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), then the board of such authority
   1-12  shall have the authority to provide and shall provide retirement
   1-13  benefits for employees of the authority by participating in and
   1-14  making all contributions required or authorized by the municipal
   1-15  retirement system established by the municipality pursuant to
   1-16  Chapter 451, Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991
   1-17  (Article 6243n, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes).
   1-18        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1993.
   1-19        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-20  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-21  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-22  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-23  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
    2-1  and that this Act take effect and be in force according to its
    2-2  terms, and it is so enacted.
