No. 1169 By: Wentworth 1-21 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-22 AN ACT 1-23 relating to the contracting for, and establishment and continuance 1-24 of, certain retirement programs for the benefit of employees of 1-25 municipal hospital authorities. 1-26 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-27 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 262, Health and Safety 1-28 Code, is amended by adding Section 262.035 to read as follows: 1-29 Sec. 262.035. RETIREMENT BENEFITS. If any authority is 1-30 created by the governing body of a municipality which has 1-31 established a municipal retirement system pursuant to Chapter 451, 1-32 Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991 (Article 6243n, 1-33 Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), then the board of such authority 1-34 shall have the authority to provide and shall provide retirement 1-35 benefits for employees of the authority by participating in and 1-36 making all contributions required or authorized by the municipal 1-37 retirement system established by the municipality pursuant to 1-38 Chapter 451, Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991 1-39 (Article 6243n, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes). 1-40 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 1993. 1-41 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-42 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-43 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-44 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-45 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-46 and that this Act take effect and be in force according to its 1-47 terms, and it is so enacted. 1-48 * * * * * 1-49 Austin, 1-50 Texas 1-51 April 6, 1993 1-52 Hon.
