                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to bus aides and training for bus aides.
    1-2        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-3        SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 21, Education Code, is
    1-4  amended by adding Section 21.170 to read as follows:
    1-5        Sec. 21.170.  BUS AIDES, TRAINING.  (a)  School districts
    1-6  responsible for the transportation of students with handicaps, as
    1-7  defined in Section 21.503 of this code, shall provide a bus aide to
    1-8  assist the student(s) with handicaps.
    1-9        (b)  The school district shall provide basic first aid and
   1-10  CPR training for bus aides who assist students with handicaps.  All
   1-11  school districts shall equip school buses with a basic first aid
   1-12  kit.
   1-13        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-14  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-15  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-16  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-17  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-18  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-19  passage, and it is so enacted.
