   1-15                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-16                                AN ACT
   1-17  relating to designation of United States Highway 290 in Lee County
   1-18  as the Henry G. "Bud" Lehman Highway.
   1-19        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-20        SECTION 1.  United States Highway 290 in Lee County is
   1-21  designated as the Henry G. "Bud" Lehman Highway.
   1-22        SECTION 2.  (a)  The Texas Department of Transportation shall
   1-23  design and construct markers to be placed along United States
   1-24  Highway 290 in Lee County indicating its designation as the Henry
   1-25  G. "Bud" Lehman Highway.
   1-26        (b)  The markers shall include the highway number and any
   1-27  other information that the department determines is appropriate.
   1-28        (c)  Markers shall be erected at each point along the highway
   1-29  at which the highway enters Lee County and at intermediate sites
   1-30  that the department determines are appropriate.
   1-31        (d)  The department is responsible for repair and replacement
   1-32  of the markers and for maintenance of the grounds surrounding each
   1-33  marker.
   1-34        (e)  The department may accept grants and donations from
   1-35  individuals and other entities to assist in financing the
   1-36  construction and maintenance of the markers.
   1-37        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-38  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-39  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-40  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-41  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-42  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-43  passage, and it is so enacted.
