No. 12 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is delighted 1-2 to recognize the Dallas Cowboys Football Team on the jubilant 1-3 occasion of its victory over the Buffalo Bills Football Team in the 1-4 Super Bowl on January 31, 1993; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Dallas Cowboys clinched their victory with the 1-6 dismantling of the Buffalo Bills by a score of 52 to 17 in front of 1-7 98,374 football fans in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman completed 22 of 30 1-9 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns and was designated the 1-10 Super Bowl Most Valuable Player; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The Cowboys scored the second most points in Super 1-12 Bowl history; five first-half turnovers led to three Dallas 1-13 touchdowns; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Nine Buffalo turnovers allowed the Cowboys to 1-15 capitalize on the Bills' mistakes and score; and Dallas scored two 1-16 touchdowns within 15 seconds in the first quarter and again within 1-17 18 seconds in the second quarter; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The Cowboys sealed the game with another remarkable 1-19 drive in the fourth quarter, scoring twice within a one-minute, 1-20 52-second span; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Amazingly hard-hitting and versatile, the Dallas 1-22 Cowboys justly deserve being designated the number-one team in the 1-23 nation; Jimmy Johnson's belief in himself and his players 2-1 contributed greatly to the Cowboys' success in Super Bowl XXVII; 2-2 and 2-3 WHEREAS, The Cowboys' capture of the championship has clearly 2-4 demonstrated the team's winning spirit, discipline, and courage; 2-5 now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 2-7 hereby commend and applaud the Dallas Cowboys Football Team on its 2-8 admirable victory and extend congratulations to the coaches and 2-9 each of the players; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for this 2-11 championship team as a token of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
