                             SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-2  recognize the residents of the City of Stanton for their recent
    1-3  successful AIDS education program; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Known as "AIDS:  Helping the Families," the program
    1-5  was organized and sponsored by the Stanton City Council; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, This outstanding program was a unique approach to
    1-7  helping the victims of AIDS and their families cope with the
    1-8  tremendous difficulties they face on a daily basis and helping the
    1-9  public become more knowledgeable about this deadly disease; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, A seminar was held and a professional counselor
   1-11  spoke to the more than 200 citizens who participated; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The program focused on imparting information on how
   1-13  citizens can become better neighbors and more effectively support
   1-14  the families of AIDS victims; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Stanton City Council and the residents who
   1-16  participated in the seminar deserve to be proud of their
   1-17  involvement in such an important, humanitarian, and timely project;
   1-18  now, therefore, be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-20  hereby commend the city council and citizens of Stanton for their
   1-21  active concern for the welfare of AIDS victims and their families;
   1-22  and, be it further
   1-23        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
    2-1  City Council of Stanton as an expression of high regard from the
    2-2  Texas Legislature.
