No. 35 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas joins with the 1-2 citizens of Mount Vernon and Texans across the state in mourning 1-3 the loss of Mack Neal Solomon who died December 22, 1992; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born September 14, 1924, in Franklin County, Neal 1-5 Solomon was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and East Texas 1-6 State University; he earned a master of science degree from Sam 1-7 Houston State University and taught vocational agriculture for 14 1-8 years; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A resourceful and astute businessman, Mr. Solomon 1-10 founded the Mount Vernon Insurance and Real Estate Company and 1-11 owned a dairy business in Franklin County for most of his life; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A talented, hardworking, and exemplary gentleman, 1-13 Neal Solomon won a seat in the Texas House of Representatives in 1-14 1965 where he served for eight years and was chairman of the House 1-15 Banks and Banking Committee; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A well-known civic leader, he served as mayor of 1-17 Mount Vernon for several years and was president of the Rotary Club 1-18 and Franklin County Chamber of Commerce; and 1-19 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he 1-20 gave unselfishly of his time to others; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Neal Solomon was a member of the 1-22 First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a member of 1-23 the Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge and Hella Temple; and 2-1 WHEREAS, His wisdom, warm spirit, and valued counsel will not 2-2 be forgotten by those who knew him; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Neal Solomon was a devoted husband and father who 2-4 leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family 2-5 and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 2-7 hereby pay tribute to the life of Mack Neal Solomon and extend 2-8 sincere condolences to the members of his family: his wife, 2-9 Barbara Connelly Solomon; his daughter, Vatra Solomon; his daughter 2-10 and son-in-law, Nila and Louis Williams; his son and 2-11 daughter-in-law, Jim and Rosanne Solomon; and his grandchildren, 2-12 Amy, Mary Elen, Connelly, and Andrew; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the 2-14 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-15 Texas Legislature, and that when the legislature adjourns this day, 2-16 it do so in memory of Neal Solomon.
