                             SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-2  joining with the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers in
    1-3  declaring March 24, 1993, as Texas PTA Legislative Day at the State
    1-4  Capitol; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers is
    1-6  holding its 17th annual PTA Day at the Texas State Capitol; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Throughout 84 years of volunteer service to the
    1-8  children of our state, the Texas PTA has labored to promote the
    1-9  welfare of children in the home, the school, and the community,
   1-10  raise the standards of home life, secure adequate laws for the care
   1-11  and protection of children and youths, forge a closer relationship
   1-12  between home and school so that parents and teachers cooperate in
   1-13  the education of children, and develop united efforts between
   1-14  educators and the public to secure for all children the best
   1-15  possible physical, mental, social, and spiritual education; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Today, more than 800,000 Texas PTA members work in
   1-17  cooperation with public educators in our state to help provide a
   1-18  quality education for all youths; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The Texas PTA is a medium for citizens to voice
   1-20  concerns and advocate and expedite ideas in developing sound
   1-21  educational goals for the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-23  hereby express appreciation to the Texas PTA for its faithful
    2-1  service on behalf of the children of our state and extend best
    2-2  wishes to its members for a joyous and productive Texas PTA
    2-3  Legislative Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
    2-5  Texas PTA as a token of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
