                                 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, the Senate of the State of Texas, the House of
    1-2  Representatives concurring, in 1971 adopted Senate Concurrent
    1-3  Resolution No. 102, Acts of the 62nd Legislature, Regular Session,
    1-4  which prohibited the Board of Regents of The University of Texas
    1-5  System from purchasing any insurance policies covering any
    1-6  buildings or contents of buildings under the control and governance
    1-7  of the Board of Regents, except for insurance policies on revenue
    1-8  producing buildings or buildings and contents the revenues of which
    1-9  are pledged by the Board of Regents for retirement of bond
   1-10  indebtedness; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, the total value of all buildings owned by The
   1-12  University of Texas System now exceeds $4 billion; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, the cost of replacing any buildings severely damaged
   1-14  by act of God or other reasons may be excessive to the state; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of The University of Texas
   1-16  System desires the authority to purchase casualty and fire
   1-17  insurance policies on certain buildings and contents under the
   1-18  control and governance of the Board of Regents; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, the purchase of such policies will limit the
   1-20  economic impact of such building losses to the State of Texas and
   1-21  all agencies of state government; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, that the Board of Regents of The University of
   1-23  Texas System is hereby authorized to purchase casualty and fire
    2-1  insurance policies on buildings and contents under the control and
    2-2  governance of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas
    2-3  System.
