                             SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, Our young people should be encouraged to protect the
    1-2  environment; the values developed today will affect how they care
    1-3  for our fragile planet in the future; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, H.E.B. and the Texas General Land Office are
    1-5  sponsoring the fourth annual Environmental Challenge contest to
    1-6  inspire schoolchildren to take an active role in projects
    1-7  addressing environmental concerns; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The environmental school projects can be in any of
    1-9  the following areas or topics of concern:  water, energy,
   1-10  toxic/hazardous waste, solid waste/recycling, global warming/tree
   1-11  planting, environmental education, agriculture, and any other
   1-12  relevant environmental or natural science topic; the winners will
   1-13  be announced on April 19, 1993; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Resourceful and enthusiastic schoolchildren can
   1-15  enhance the beauty of their surroundings or help promote the
   1-16  quality of their environment and at the same time learn what a
   1-17  difference they can make; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The Environmental Challenge contest is a commendable
   1-19  way to get students actively interested in the welfare of their
   1-20  community and their state; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-22  hereby honor teachers and students participating in the
   1-23  H.E.B./General Land Office Environmental Challenge and declare
    2-1  April 30, 1993, Environmental Challenge Day; and, be it further
    2-2        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
    2-3  participants as an expression of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
