No. 81 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is proud to 1-2 commemorate the month of May, 1993, as Older Americans' Month in 1-3 recognition of the many worthwhile contributions senior citizens 1-4 have made and continue to make within our society; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Homes for the Aging, which 1-6 represents nonprofit homes and communities, conducts an annual art 1-7 contest for the residents of its members to acknowledge the 1-8 vitality and creativity of all older Texans; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Nearly 300 residents from across the state between 1-10 the ages of 65 to 94 participated in submitting their art, crafts, 1-11 and literary works; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The winning entries will be featured at a special 1-13 exhibit at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in Austin, 1-14 Texas, from May 1 to August 1, 1993; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The Gala Grand Opening of the Texas Association of 1-16 Homes for the Aging's Third Annual Art Exhibition, "Art is 1-17 Ageless," will be held on May 15, 1993, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 1-18 the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum to honor all 1-19 participants and winners; and 1-20 WHEREAS, It is fitting that treasured members of our society 1-21 are being valued for their invaluable wisdom, insight, talent, and 1-22 life experience; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 2-1 hereby congratulate the winners and participants of the art show 2-2 and recognize their work as a reflection of the creativity of all 2-3 older Texans; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Texas Legislature extend the highest 2-5 regard and appreciation to all participants and welcome them and 2-6 their families to Austin and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and 2-7 Museum for the Gala Grand Opening of the "Art is Ageless" 2-8 exhibition.
