No. 96 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Fifty years ago, on June 25, 1943, Jonathan Preston 1-2 Lancaster and Judith Mary Pickle placed great faith and trust in 1-3 the future and they have been amply rewarded as they recently 1-4 celebrated their golden wedding anniversary; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years 1-6 of their marriage yet Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster have steadfastly 1-7 embraced traditional family and moral values; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their 1-9 love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and 1-10 sorrows of everyday living; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster have been blessed with a 1-12 wonderful family: their children, Diantha Duke "Dede" Alspaugh, 1-13 Meredith Ann Lancaster, and David Preston Lancaster, and their six 1-14 grandchildren have been a source of much pride and joy; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Both Jonathan and Judith Lancaster are former public 1-16 school teachers who earned master's degrees in education; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Leaders in their community, they are active members 1-18 in the First United Methodist Church and are volunteers for a 1-19 number of programs, including Meals on Wheels, the Westlake 1-20 Presbyterian Breakfast for the Homeless, and Drivers for Care 1-21 Corps; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster will celebrate their 50th 1-23 wedding anniversary on June 25, 1993; and 2-1 WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster 2-2 is truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 2-4 hereby extend sincere congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan 2-5 Lancaster on their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for this 2-7 distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in their 2-8 lives.
