                                SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment providing for the expiration
    1-2  of terms of office of municipal judges.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Article XVI, Section 17, of the Texas
    1-5  Constitution is amended to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 17.  All officers within this State shall continue to
    1-7  perform the duties of their offices until their successors are
    1-8  <shall be> duly qualified, except that municipal court judges who
    1-9  are not reappointed shall not continue to perform the duties of
   1-10  their offices for more than 90 days after the expiration of their
   1-11  term.
   1-12        SECTION 2.  This constitutional amendment takes effect
   1-13  January 1, 1994.
   1-14        SECTION 3.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
   1-15  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 1993.
   1-16  The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
   1-17  the proposition:  "The constitutional amendment providing for the
   1-18  expiration of terms of office of municipal judges."
