    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Police Officers Alvin Sims, Lanny Glasscock, and
    1-4  John McGuire for winning the Wild Horse state title at the
    1-5  Texas Police Officers Rodeo Association annual competition; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The championship competition was held at the Cowtown
    1-7  Coliseum in Fort Worth; the annual event helps to fund the large
    1-8  contributions given yearly to charities by the Texas Police Officers
    1-9  Rodeo Association; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Officers Sims and Glasscock of Duncanville teamed up
   1-11  with Officer McGuire of Dallas two years ago, and the trio won the
   1-12  reserve championship in the Wild Horse category last year; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The Wild Horse event involves three participants
   1-14  who must get one man to ride a horse across a designated line; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, These three officers have demonstrated unusual
   1-16  courage and perseverance since they first began participating in
   1-17  the competition, and they deserve to be commended for their
   1-18  teamwork and talent; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Each officer was awarded a new leather saddle with a
   1-20  championship inscription in honor of his outstanding performance;
   1-21  Officer Sims also won an individual state title in the Shute-dogging
   1-22  contest; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  73rd Legislature, hereby commend Officers Alvin Sims,
    2-2  Lanny Glasscock, and John McGuire for their contributions to the
    2-3  association's championship competition and extend congratulations
    2-4  to them on their victory; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be prepared for them
    2-6  as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
