    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pleasure in congratulating the Waxahachie High School football
    1-4  team for its splendid accomplishment in winning the 4A State
    1-5  Championship for 1992; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Scoring a total of 585 points in 16 games, the
    1-7  Waxahachie Indians were the only undefeated 4A team in Texas for
    1-8  1992; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Blazing their way through the state
   1-10  playoffs, the Indians defeated Jacksonville 39-0 in area
   1-11  play, Denison 56-0 in the district match, Highland Park 10-9
   1-12  in the quarterfinals, Lubbock Estacado 70-6 in the semifinals,
   1-13  and A&M Consolidated 28-24 in the championship game, dramatically
   1-14  outscoring their opponents; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Quarterback Lamont Moore was chosen as the
   1-16  Dallas Morning News All-Area High School Offensive Player of
   1-17  the Year, having rushed for 1,209 yards and passed for 1,909 yards;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Offensive Lineman Joe Garber was nationally honored
   1-20  as a member of the USA Today All-American Team; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The Indians' offensive line of Jason Howard,
   1-22  Travis Allsot, Joe Garber, Jerry Holubec, and Charles Atchison
   1-23  has been recognized as one of the best in the state; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, The Associated Press All-State Team included:
    2-2  Joe Garber, 1st Team Offense; Eric Farrar, 1st Team Defense;
    2-3  Lamont Moore, Honorable Mention; and Samie Overton, Honorable
    2-4  Mention; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of coaches
    2-6  Scott Phillips, Thomas Brooks, David Yowell, Charlie Carmichael,
    2-7  Ricky Don Sargent, Tony Valastro, Danny Lauve, and David Ryon and
    2-8  with assistance from Jim Miller, Alec Wofford, Bill Midkiff,
    2-9  Ron Siebert, Steve Howell, Robert Woodhouse, and J. D. Sullivan,
   2-10  the Waxahachie Indians posted a perfect football season; and
   2-11        WHEREAS, The Waxahachie Indians' unprecedented success has
   2-12  been attributable not only to the outstanding guidance provided by
   2-13  the coaching staff but also to the exceptional athletic ability,
   2-14  selfless team unity, and competitive spirit of all the players; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, Their highly successful season is a tribute to the
   2-16  athletes' superb talent and loyal enthusiasm they consistently
   2-17  displayed in every game; and
   2-18        WHEREAS, The Waxahachie High School Indians have brought
   2-19  honor to themselves, their coaches, their school, and their
   2-20  community, and they are to be commended for their respect for the
   2-21  highest ideals of American sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
   2-22        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-23  73rd Legislature, hereby recognize the Waxahachie High School
   2-24  football team for winning the 1992 4A football championship and
   2-25  commend the individual team members, coaches, and staff for their
    3-1  many accomplishments and exceptional play; and, be it further
    3-2        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    3-3  the members of the team and the coaching staff as an expression
    3-4  of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
