1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Sally Strong Kyle
1-5 WHEREAS, The recent death of Mrs. Sally Strong Kyle
1-6 represented a deep personal loss for her loved ones and her many
1-7 friends throughout the State of Texas; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Born on August 17, 1913, to George and
1-9 Ima Smith Allen of Crockett, Texas, Sally was the youngest child
1-10 in her family; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Sally gave her life to Christ at a very early age
1-12 and joined the New Pleasant Hill Baptist Church; she was active
1-13 in its Sunday school and various other church programs; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kyle was educated at Energy Enterprise School,
1-15 GudeBlye School, and Mary Allen College; after graduating from
1-16 Prairie View A&M College, she had a long career as an educator,
1-17 teaching home economics, elementary education, and special education
1-18 for 46 years; she believed in teaching children facts as well as
1-19 skills for coping with life; and
1-20 WHEREAS, A tower of integrity, strength, and generosity,
1-21 Sally Strong Kyle gave unselfishly of her time and energy to others;
1-22 and
1-23 WHEREAS, She was active in civic and community club work
2-1 all her life, having been a member of the Social Art Club, the
2-2 Sunday Morning Breakfast Club, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee,
2-3 and Top Ladies of Distinction; and
2-4 WHEREAS, Her work as a scoutmaster with the East Texas
2-5 Area Council Boy Scouts of America immeasurably benefitted the young
2-6 people of Crockett; and
2-7 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Kyle was a member of
2-8 Saint Paul Baptist Church and was an honorary member of New Pleasant
2-9 Hill Baptist Church; and
2-10 WHEREAS, Sally Strong Kyle's wisdom, warm spirit, and valued
2-11 counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew and worked with her;
2-12 she was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves behind memories
2-13 that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now,
2-14 therefore, be it
2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-16 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2-17 family of Sally Strong Kyle: her husband, the Reverend Curtis Kyle;
2-18 her children, Alderene Solomon, Ima Lois Brown, Bob A. Allen,
2-19 Cynthia Kyle, and Elaine Mabson; and her brother, Charles Mirt Allen;
2-20 and, be it further
2-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-22 the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
2-23 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
2-24 so in memory of Sally Strong Kyle.
