No. 17 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Richard Becka for his outstanding contributions to 1-4 Texas A&M University; and 1-5 WHEREAS, On February 12, 1993, Texas A&M University will 1-6 honor the esteemed educator and four of his associates at a 1-7 reception to celebrate their 25 years of dedicated service to the 1-8 university; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Dr. Becka joined the Department of Philosophy and 1-10 Humanities at Texas A&M University in 1968 and has served as the 1-11 department's undergraduate advisor and as a member of department, 1-12 college, and university committees; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Well known as a specialist in medieval philosophy, 1-14 Richard Becka has introduced thousands of students to the teachings 1-15 of Plato, Aristotle, and Saint Thomas Aquinas; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A superb professor and an expert in his field, 1-17 Richard Becka is a loyal and dedicated teacher who has worked 1-18 diligently on behalf of his students and on behalf of the 1-19 university; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-21 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Richard Becka for his worthy 1-22 accomplishments as a member of the faculty of Texas A&M University 1-23 and express appreciation to him for his many contributions to the 2-1 Department of Philosophy and Humanities; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-3 Dr. Becka as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-4 _____________________________________ 2-5 President of the Senate 2-6 I hereby certify that the 2-7 above Resolution was adopted by 2-8 the Senate on January 13, 1993. 2-9 _____________________________________ 2-10 Secretary of the Senate 2-11 _____________________________________ 2-12 Member, Texas Senate
