No. 33 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for Mrs. Mary Williams of Groesbeck, Texas, on 1-4 December 19, 1992, when she was the guest of honor on her special 1-5 day; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This being her 80th birthday, Mary has been privileged 1-7 to witness events most of us only read about in history books; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mary is one of twin girls born to Jack and 1-9 Annie Stewart on December 23, 1912, on a farm near Groesbeck; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world 1-11 are evident as she relates tales of years past; Mrs. Williams has 1-12 earned respect and friendship from all who know her; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Growing up on the farm with 10 brothers and sisters, 1-14 Mary recalls having wonderful experiences riding horses and swimming 1-15 in the tanks; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Still an active and vital member of her community, 1-17 she is noted for her exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to 1-18 the fullest; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mary Williams has a lovely family of four boys 1-20 and one girl, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of this beloved matriarch 1-22 gathered at Groesbeck High School to honor her in a manner best 1-23 befitting the event; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 73rd Legislature, hereby declare Mrs. Mary Williams a treasured 2-3 citizen of her town and state, wishing her many more years of health 2-4 and happiness; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to her 2-6 as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-7 _____________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the 2-10 above Resolution was adopted by 2-11 the Senate on January 14, 1993. 2-12 _____________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
