No. 34 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for Sallie Hightower when she was the guest of honor 1-4 on her special day, December 13, 1992; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Since this was her 100th birthday, she has been 1-6 privileged to witness events many of us only read about in history 1-7 books; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world are 1-9 evident as she recalls tales of years past; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Hightower enjoys reminiscing and takes 1-11 pleasure in the companionship of family and friends; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, 1-13 she is noted for her exemplary courage and her enthusiasm for 1-14 living each day to the fullest; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of Mrs. Hightower gathered 1-16 for a celebration to honor her in a manner befitting the event; 1-17 now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-19 73rd Legislature, hereby recognize Sallie Hightower as a treasured 1-20 citizen of her town and state and wish her many more years of 1-21 health and happiness; and, be it further 1-22 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to 1-23 Sallie Hightower as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-1 _____________________________________ 2-2 President of the Senate 2-3 I hereby certify that the 2-4 above Resolution was adopted by 2-5 the Senate on January 14, 1993. 2-6 _____________________________________ 2-7 Secretary of the Senate 2-8 _____________________________________ 2-9 Member, Texas Senate
