1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
1-3 recognize Doris Terry Welch for her 18 years of outstanding service
1-4 as the Freestone County Clerk and for her 44 years of public service
1-5 in the courthouse; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Welch is the second longest tenured official
1-7 in the courthouse, having worked in its quarters since 1948 when
1-8 she began her career as a deputy county clerk; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Devoted to the Freestone County community and to her
1-10 work, Mrs. Welch has used her superior organizational and
1-11 administrative skills to manage effectively the far-reaching
1-12 responsibilities of a county clerk's position; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Her duties have included keeping most of the records
1-14 for the county, such as land transactions, probate proceedings, and
1-15 county court civil and criminal proceedings, and acting as secretary
1-16 for the commissioners court; and
1-17 WHEREAS, In tribute to Mrs. Welch's many years of loyalty and
1-18 hard work, she was honored at a retirement party in her office in
1-19 the courthouse annex; and
1-20 WHEREAS, The Freestone County community has greatly
1-21 benefitted from the dedication and generous spirit of this talented
1-22 elected official, and her presence at the courthouse will be
1-23 greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-2 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Doris Terry Welch for her
2-3 invaluable contributions to Freestone County and extend best wishes
2-4 to her for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
2-6 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
