No. 51 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for Mrs. Sue Burleson of Groesbeck, Texas, on 1-4 December 19, 1992, when she was the guest of honor on her special 1-5 day; and 1-6 WHEREAS, December 23rd being her 80th birthday, Sue has 1-7 been privileged to witness events most of us only read about in 1-8 history books, including riding in the Armistice Parade in 1928 as 1-9 a cowgirl; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Sue and her sister, Mary, were born to 1-11 Jack and Annie Stewart on December 23, 1912, in Groesbeck and 1-12 spent their childhood on the family farm with their nine brothers 1-13 and sisters; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world 1-15 are evident as she recalls tales of years past; Mrs. Burleson has 1-16 earned respect and friendship from all who know her; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Still an active and vital member of her community, 1-18 she is noted for her exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to 1-19 the fullest; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Sue is the proud mother of four boys and four 1-21 girls, grandmother to 23 grandchildren, and great-grandmother 1-22 to 16 great-grandchildren; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of this beloved matriarch 2-1 gathered at Groesbeck High School to honor her in a manner best 2-2 befitting the event; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 73rd Legislature, hereby declare Mrs. Sue Burleson a treasured 2-5 citizen of her town and state, wishing her many more years of 2-6 health and happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to her as 2-8 a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-9 _____________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the 2-12 above Resolution was adopted by 2-13 the Senate on January 19, 1993. 2-14 _____________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 _____________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
