No. 71 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Carson Newman Parks for his 42 years of loyal service 1-4 in the field of law enforcement; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Carson Parks began his exceptional career in law 1-6 enforcement in 1951 as the Town Marshall of Griffing Park, Texas; 1-7 he became a Special Texas Ranger during the 1960s and later served 1-8 as Chief of Police in Vidor, Texas; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Since 1970, he has faithfully served as 1-10 Chief of Police of Carthage, Texas, where he is a beloved and 1-11 highly respected leader in the community; and 1-12 WHEREAS, His accomplishments include serving as president 1-13 and treasurer of the East Texas Police Chiefs Association, completing 1-14 over 1,000 hours of continual educational training, and serving as a 1-15 member of the Advisory Board of the East Texas Police Academy; and 1-16 WHEREAS, He is a member of the Justice Advisory Board of 1-17 the East Texas Council of Government and a 45-year member of the 1-18 Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree; and 1-19 WHEREAS, A man of courage and conviction, Chief Parks has 1-20 been dedicated to making the streets of Carthage a safer place in 1-21 which to live, work, and raise a family; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Throughout the years of his career, Chief Parks 1-23 has displayed expertise and superior judgment in dealing with the 2-1 unique challenges of law enforcement duty, and he has made 2-2 innumerable contributions to the residents of Panola County; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 73rd Legislature, hereby honor Carson Newman Parks for his valor 2-6 and dedication in the field of law enforcement and extend best 2-7 wishes to him for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-9 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-10 _____________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the 2-13 above Resolution was adopted by 2-14 the Senate on January 21, 1993. 2-15 _____________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 _____________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
