1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Nan Lackey DeLong
1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
1-6 family and many friends of Nan Lackey DeLong in mourning her loss
1-7 on December 29, 1992; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Nan Lackey was born December 20, 1903, in
1-9 Sherwood, Texas; she married Aubrey DeLong in Rankin, Texas; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeLong graduated from Sherwood High School
1-11 and Texas Woman's College; she was a rancher and a schoolteacher;
1-12 and
1-13 WHEREAS, A well-known civic leader, she was a founding
1-14 member of the Mertzon '48 Study Club, the Texas Sheep and Goat
1-15 Raisers Association, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers'
1-16 Association, and the First Methodist Church in Mertzon; and
1-17 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity
1-18 of spirit, she gave unselfishly of her time to others; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeLong's wisdom, warm spirit, and valued
1-20 counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; she leaves
1-21 behind memories that will be treasured by her family and friends;
1-22 now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-1 73rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
2-2 bereaved family of Nan Lackey DeLong: her son, Monte Noelke;
2-3 her brother, Mark H. Lackey; and her eight grandchildren and
2-4 eight great-grandchildren; and, be it further
2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-6 the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
2-7 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
2-8 day, it do so in the memory of Nan Lackey DeLong.
