No. 103 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Carolyn Bartosh, a science teacher at Saint Anthony's 1-4 School in Columbus, Texas, for her selection as the Environmental 1-5 Education Teacher of the Year 1992 for the State of Texas by the 1-6 National Association of Conservation Districts; and 1-7 WHEREAS, This national awards program recognizes one 1-8 outstanding environmental education teacher from each of the 1-9 United States and from Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, 1-10 American Samoa, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and 1-11 Washington, D.C.; and 1-12 WHEREAS, An exceptionally gifted and dedicated teacher, 1-13 Carolyn Bartosh served as vice-president of Parent Teachers 1-14 1990-1992 and was named Environmental Education Teacher of the 1-15 Year 1992 by the Colorado Soil and Water Conservation District; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, Innovative and resourceful, Ms. Bartosh is an 1-18 enthusiastic educator who has inspired her students to participate 1-19 in numerous environmental projects; and 1-20 WHEREAS, She and her students are assisting the 1-21 Lower Colorado River Authority in sampling and testing the 1-22 waters of the Colorado River near Columbus and are active in 1-23 keeping their school campus clean and in landscaping its grounds; 2-1 and 2-2 WHEREAS, Ms. Bartosh initiated a program in which 2-3 patrol groups clean the campus weekly, and she was instrumental 2-4 in motivating her students to collect recyclables and donate the 2-5 tabs of aluminum cans to hospitals to defray the expenses of 2-6 patients needing kidney dialysis; and 2-7 WHEREAS, A diligent and hardworking educator, 2-8 Carolyn Bartosh is a naturalist whose goals are to help 2-9 make our planet free from pollution and to instill in students 2-10 an awareness of nature and the many opportunities for enjoyment 2-11 it can provide; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-13 73rd Legislature, hereby commend Carolyn Bartosh for her 2-14 superb contributions to the field of environmental education 2-15 in the State of Texas and extend best wishes to her for many 2-16 rewarding years ahead; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-18 her as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-19 _____________________________________ 2-20 President of the Senate 2-21 I hereby certify that the 2-22 above Resolution was adopted by 2-23 the Senate on January 25, 1993. 2-24 _____________________________________ 2-25 Secretary of the Senate 3-1 _____________________________________ 3-2 Member, Texas Senate
